Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare Dr Harsh Vardhan is scheduled to visit Nagaland.
Confirming the news, the DIPR informed that Dr Vardhan will lay the foundation for the medical college in Mon on February 26, the construction for which was sanctioned by the Union Ministry.
The ceremony, which will also be attended by the Nagaland Chief Minister, State Health and Family Welfare Minister and Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), will take place at the Mon District Hospital.
Other official sources said that Dr Vardhan will land in Dimapur on February 25 and would likely visit the CIHSR before proceeding to Kohima. After the ceremony in Mon, the sources said that his tentative itinerary also includes inspecting the medical college construction site in Kohima on February 27.
There was no word on whether the Union Minister would also inspect the construction of the new hospital complex for the Dimapur District Hospital, which remains incomplete after almost seven years. The project, worth Rs 23.37cr in total, was sanctioned by the Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare in 2013 through the National Health Mission’s Forward Linkages Scheme and construction started in 2014.
