Dimapur, May 29 (MExN): The Women's Cell of Unity College, Dimapur organized a webinar to mark the ‘International Day of Action for Women's Health 2021’ on May 28.
The resource persons L Emi Humtsoe, Prof, College of Nursing, CIHSR, Dimapur and Dr Renbeni Yepthomi, Pathologist, Good Health Diagnostic Center and Clinic, Dimapur shared on ‘quality health care-access to safe and legal abortion’ and ‘Impact of COVID-19 in women's sexual and reproductive health: uncovered stories’ respectively.
Humtsoe threw light on the growing cases of abortion all over the world, especially in Nagaland scenario. She highlighted on categories of unsafe abortion and safe abortion. She strongly emphasized on the importance of maintaining ‘sanctity of life’.
Dr Renbeni spoke on the importance of maintaining women’s reproductive health. She informed on various Sexually Transmitted Diseases such as, Human Papilloma virus (HPV), Genital Herpes, HIV/AIDS syphilis and such other related diseases. She also stated how people are suffering silently due to the lack of awareness and knowledge about the prevention and treatment.
The webinar was attended by 97 participants including students and faculties, the college stated in a press release.
