Urban ASHAs from Dimapur district who were honoured during the observation of Universal Health Coverage Day along with officials on December 13.

DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 13 (MExN): Universal Health Coverage Day was observed across Nagaland on December 13.
In Dimapur, an urban ASHAs felicitation programme was held at the CMO’s office under the theme ‘Leave No One’s Health Behind: Invest in Health System for all.’
Dr Moatemjen, Chief Medical Officer of Dimapur stated that the day was observed with a vision to make quality and affordable health care more accessible without falling into financial hardship. He further urged the urban AHSAs to continue helping in building a better and healthy future for generations to come. He requested them to work hard and identify gaps to ensure that everyone has access to health care, especially during Urban Health Nutrition Day (UHND) and outreach sessions as they are the bridge between the public and the Medical Department.
He stressed on the works of the Mahila Arogya Samithi (MAS) in all the colonies and requested the ASHAs to work together with MAS for maximum benefits for the communities.
Dr. Antoly Suu, Deputy CMO also thanked the Urban ASHAs for their ever tireless work and contribution especially during the current pandemic. She also added that in order to prevent future pandemic and achieve health for all and provide quality health care for all; equity in health care should be prioritized.
During the Urban ASHA Felicitation Programme, the following Urban ASHAs were felicitated based on their performance and contributions while performing their duties as Urban ASHAs: Ajungla Imsong, Ward 20-Imkonglenden, Imlirenla Pongen, Ward 5- Power House, and Ashebui, Ward 3- Naga Colony. The ASHAs were each awarded with Cash Prize and a Certificate.
Dr Aonungdok, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Mokokchung addressed the participants on the significance of the observation. He said that everyone deserves access to quality health services without suffering financial hardships. He further cited the important role played by ASHAs in this regard, as they deal with the community at the grass-root level and are responsible for encouraging patients to seek medical attention at the nearest District Hospital, on timely vaccination, ANC etc., along with reporting of feedbacks and problems faced by the community in respect of health services and also reporting of success stories as experienced by them.
Dr. Ayangla Saku, DPO(UIP&RCH), while felicitating the ASHAs praised their hard work and encouraged them to carry forward their dedication in the days ahead. She also praised their tireless contributions in the ongoing pandemic.
Urban ASHAs Tialemla of Alempang, Imsuinla Ao of Tongdentsuyong and Temjenrenla of Sangtemla were awarded state level certificates of recognition for their contributions as ASHAs in the District. All the Urban ASHAs were felicitated with tokens of appreciation by the Chief Medical Officer.
In Wokha, Dr Zuben Kikon, Deputy Chief Medical Officer Wokha commented on the remarkable performance of the ASHAs in carrying out health care activities and encouraged them to continue working efficiently and consistently.
Three best performing Urban ASHAs from Wokha town were felicitated with certificates and cash amount by Dr Tumchobeni Kikon, Chief Medical Officer Wokha. The best performing ASHAs Loyulo, Zuchobeni and Ziony also shared their experiences on various health activities and challenges they faced while performing their duties.
