Doyapur road connecting Dimapur town with Peren district in deplorable condition

Dimapur, October 1 (MExN): The Urra Area Villages Union (UAVU) has expressed resentment over the Public Work Department (PWD) for its lackadaisical attitude towards the plight of the public.

UAVU, President, Thrilongse Sangtam in a press release stated that the Doyapur road which connects Dimapur town with Peren district and which serves as the main lifeline of more than 20 villages is in a deplorable condition. The road portion from Seluophe village to Kiyeto village junction has turn from bad to worst over the past few days where small cars are difficult to ply.

The said area remains unattended for more than 10 years despite of several reminders to the concerned department.

“Time and again the union had initiated renovation work by way of driving voluntary donation from well wishers for the villagers to at least reach Dimapur town to avail basic needs,” the Union stated.

It stated that with the onset of Monsoon rain the union had reminded the concerned department once again to at least fill the large potholes in several portions with sand gravel even if it cannot mend the smooth black topping at present.

“However, the department asserted that it has no resources to do,” it alleged.

“The Union wonder how the department can easily refurnished some VIP colony road even though smooth for sailing but the road like Doyapur road which served many villages to remain worse inspite of several appeal” the Union put across while questioning “the integrity of the people's government.”

With no positive response from the department concerned, the Union has resolved to repair the said road on its own ends by way of voluntary donation from well wishers and road users.
