Utilize funds for progress and development: Advisor Sukhalu to VDBs

Zunheboto, November 29 (MExN): Nagaland Advisor for School Education KT Sukhalu called on the Village Development Boards to in Zunheboto district to move towards progress with the assistance of GBs and elders.

Addressing the Silver Jubilee celebration of the Zunheboto Block Village Development Board Association (ZBVDBA) on November 29, the Advisor encouraged the VDBs to utilize the funds sanctioned by the government for the progress and development of their respective localities as an inheritance for the future generations and promote their social economic status. 

He also asserted the value of NSRLM and initiatives being taken to uplift the rural womenfolk through the establishment of Self Help Groups (SHGs) and disbursement of women development funds from the share sanctioned through the respective VDBs, a press release informed on Monday. 

While thanking the pioneers of the ZBVDBA, he laid emphasis on Pre-primary Anganwadi Avenues and requested the GBs of respective villages to refrain from the practice of proxy teachers in their schools. Reminding that all teachers are professional trained by the Department of School Education, he cited the New Education policy and expressed concern that schools without enrolment would be de-recognised. He also highlighted the core value of proper education and implored the GBs to take good care of their offsprings. 

Advisor Sukhalu also underlined the importance of conserving biodiversity and mentioned that the fertility of Tizu river valley to the east and the tributaries of Kiliki and Cheboki River to the West of Zunheboto area should be utilised properly. He encouraged the farmers and the planters to cultivate fruit bearing plants and cash crops basing on organic need for health benefits, adding that such ‘uncontaminated organic fruits and vegetables’ can be marketed at the organic AC market located at 4th mile, Dimapur.

After attending the silver jubilee function, Sukhalu visited the ongoing construction work at the Government Higher Secondary School and expressed satisfaction at the pace of works in progress. He further interacted with the teachers and students of the School and made a solemn promise that he would award an amount of Rs 1 lakh to any student from the school who makes it to the top 10 in the HSSLC/HSLC examinations, the release stated.
