DIMAPUR, AUGUST 25 (MExN): The Nagaland state VDB Association has come out in strong condemnation of an alleged “assault and murder attempt” on one of its members. The association, in a press release, condemned what it termed as “inappropriate etiquette” of one Renphamo Kikon, who allegedly assaulted its member, Wobenthung Humtsoe at the latter’s residence in Dimapur on August 21.
“… This kind of behaviour is not acceptable in a civilised society and deserves to b condemned by one and all,” the association said i a press release on Tuesday.
It also issued an appeal to the law enforcing agencies to initiate legal proceedings and “book the culprits according to the law of the land.”
FIR withdrawn
Meanwhile, the Dimapur police informed that the FIR lodged against Kikon by Humtsoe at West Police Station has been withdrawn. “An FIR in connection to the alleged incident was lodged on August 23 but was withdrawn the next day (August 25) by the complainant,” informed the police.
Other sources said that Kikon had also lodged a police complaint against Humtsoe at Bhandari Police Station, Wokha in the month of July over an alleged intrusion into the former’s farm house in Baghty. The status of the FIR could not be ascertained as the Wokha Police could not be reached for comment.
