Dimapur, October 15 (MExN): A two-day Vendor Development Programme (VDP) for Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) concluded here, aimed at expanding market access and strengthening their competitiveness.

The event, held at Hotel Acacia on October 14 and 15, was organised by YouthNet in collaboration with the Department of Industries and Commerce, Government of Nagaland, under the World Bank-supported Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) scheme supported by the World Bank. 

The programme brought together MSE entrepreneurs, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), and industry experts to facilitate business linkages and create awareness on vendor opportunities for MSEs and create awareness about various offerings by PSUs to strengthen competitiveness and expand market access of MSEs.

Representatives from PSUs including Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC), and the Nagaland Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation (NHHDC), along with financial institutions, conducted sessions on key topics including Government e-Marketplace (GeM), Goods and Services Tax (GST) compliance, procurement policies for MSMEs, Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) schemes, and the promotion of indigenous products under RAMP’s Naturally Nagaland initiative.

The sessions also included presentations on MSME support schemes by NSIC and the Nagaland Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation (NHHDC), credit facilities by the State Bank of India (SBI), and guidance on seller registration and product listing on Amazon. The event saw participation from over 70 entrepreneurs from districts including Dimapur, Chümoukedima, Niuland, and Peren, as well as entrepreneurs from the PWD community.

A highlight of the programme was an exhibition featuring 10 stalls where where entrepreneurs showcased a diverse range of locally made products such as incense, baskets, jewellery, handicrafts, handloom items, incense, crochet works, and food products, reflecting the rich entrepreneurial talent and creativity of Nagaland’s MSME community.

The programme concluded with sessions that facilitated networking and interaction among the participants.

Further, YouthNet said that similar programmes will continue to be organised across the state to empower and build the capacity of MSMEs.
