
Wokha, December 8 (MExN): In compliance to the directive of the Gauhati High Court Kohima bench, Chief Engineer, PWD (R&B) Er Kahuli Sema and her technical team visited and conducted spot verification of the road construction between Wokha to Merapani on December 4.
According to a DIPR report, Er Kahuli Sema was appointed as an independent person or an authority (Third Party) to conduct a spot verification and submit the status report as to whether the Wokha-Merapani road has been constructed and completed as per the schedule -B of the contract agreement or not within two weeks.
The court made the appointment on receiving a complaint lodged by the petitioner (Lotha HoHo) to the respondent National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), to the Gauhati High Court, Kohima Bench Nagaland, that the construction of road between Wokha to Merapani at some portion is not executed/implemented exactly as given in the schedule-B of the contract agreement.
Gauhati high court Kohima bench after studying and acknowledging the merit of the case, in view of the claims and counter-claims of the parties, has appointed the Chief Engineer, Road & Bridges, Government of Nagaland, it stated.
The court also directed that all the stakeholders should be present at the spot when the verification is conducted by the chief engineer.
Updating to the verification, the Chief Engineer said that as per the directive of the court, she and her technical team has documented all the required technical report and will submit the report judiciously without any fear and biases for the benefits of both the wearing parties as the road belong to the wellbeing of the people.”
She also mentioned that this particular road is not only for the benefits of the Lotha community but it is for the people of the state.
While thanking the verification team, the Lotha Hoho also clarified that the main objective of lodging a ‘complaint is not to disrepute the company (NHIDCL) or to malign any individuals.’ The Hoho is discharging the responsibility bestowed upon them by the people of the Lotha community for the successful implementation of the project as the Wokha-Merapani road is the economy lifeline of the Lotha community in particular and many neighboring districts, it stated.
Meanwhile, the hoho assured the verifications team and NHIDCL that they will extend full co-operation for the successful implementation of the project.
