VGs to check movement of people in international border along Kiphire

District Task Force to strictly implement SOPs

With the surge of second wave of COVID-19 at an alarming rate across the country, Kiphire District Task Force (DTF) held a meeting at DC’s Conference Hall on April 20 to review the preparedness and discuss the implementation of various SOPs issued by the government. 

Addressing the meeting, DC Kiphire Wati Aier said that Kiphire being situated at the border, the VGs service will be used to check the movement of people at the international border. 

The DC Kiphire highlighted the latest SOPs issued by the government and informed the members that all existing SOPs will be strictly implemented. He called for continuous support and cooperation from the public in defeating the virus. 

Urging for collective afford, Aier said, “Now is the time for the people to be more responsible for one’s own health and strictly adhere to all the SOPs issued by the government as we cannot be complacent at this moment.”

He called upon the people of Kiphire to get vaccinated as it was the only way to be safe from the virus. 

Aier stated that as per the SOPs issued by the government schools from class 1-8 will be closed, random testing of COVID-19 will be carried out in towns, movement of people will be restricted from 7:00 pm to 5:00 am, all religious gathering and social function will be limited to 50% and COVID-19 care center to be activated in the district. 

Expressing deep appreciation to the tribal bodies, CSOs and Church for the service rendered during the pandemic, the DC Kiphire once again called upon the church to spread awareness to the congregation about the need to be vaccinated. 

Also speaking at DTF meeting, Dr Pewezo Khalo, DPO Kiphire said COVID-19 is a public health issue which needs to be shouldered together to protect the district saying that unless we put our afford things will not materialize. 

Calling on the denizens to come forward for vaccination, he stated that so far response from the people has not been satisfactory even after numerous campaigns. He therefore urged upon the people “to come forward to get vaccination before it is too late.”

According to the new order issued by the Government, Khalo informed that vaccination for 18 years and above will start by May 1. He added that 22 vaccination site has been set up covering the entire district.
