Vikho-o Yhoshü mourns demise of Ex-IBM

Kohima, October 17 (MExN): Speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) Vikho-o Yhoshü has expressed sadness on the sudden demise of Lutjakai Kuki, Ex-IBM on October 13 at Zion Hospital, Dimapur. He was one of the five surviving Ex-IBMs (Interim Body Member).


Kuki, son of late Pu Paokholen Haokip from Kuki tribe was born in 1931 and educated at Tesangki Government aided Middle English School. He was the General Secretary, Kuki Tribal Council in 1961. He became a member of Interim Body and represented the Kukis from 1961-1963, read a condolence message from Vikho-o Yhoshü.


“He was the founder of Athibung Town which was established in 1958. He was also one of the founding members of Peren College in the 1980s. Kuki was elected as Chairman of United Democratic Front (UDF) Athibung Area from 1975-1980. He also became the first elected Chairman of Athibung Town Committee in 1982. He took active part in the developmental activities in Athibung Town to uplift the people in different capacities till his last breath…His sincere and extensive contribution to the citizens of Nagaland was duly recognized and honored by the DAN Government under the Chief Minister ship of Neiphiu Rio on the 50th year of Nagaland Statehood celebration at Kisama on December 1, 2013,” the message added.


He was 88 years and leaves behind his wife, 5 children, grand and great grand children. 


In his death, the State has lost a pioneer and a tall leader whose immense contributions will always be cherished, stated Yhoshü and on behalf of the 13th NLA and on his own behalf conveyed deep condolences to the members of the bereaved family. “May God grant solace and comfort at this hour of grief,” and the departed soul rest in peace,” it added
