Wokha, August 10 (MExN): Department of DRDA, Wokha organized a one-day workshop for Village Council Chairman and Village Development Board on August 8 at Town Hall, Wokha with Deputy Commissioner, Dr Manazir Jeelani Samoon, IAS as the special guest.
Deputy Commissioner, while addressing the gathering, gave a brief history as to how Communitization was conceptualized, how development in the village can be brought about and how implementation of schemes and programmes and funds are utilized. He also dwelt on the need to retrospect in order to strengthen our activities for prosperity, informed a DIPR report.
“We are not doing justice if we (Village council and VDBs) do not perform our assignments with sincerity and called upon them to act according as per the guideline of the programme and schemes so that the village will witness development,” the DC stated.
“Government is providing and introducing many programme to up lift the living standards of the community and appealed to the villagers to extend co-operation to the department and village functionaries so that change can be brought about,” he added.
Further, he warned that schemes will be monitored seriously from now on “because unless we do that the district will fail to see development in our district. And to ensure proper implementation of schemes village functionaries need to take up their responsibilities very seriously,” he added.
Project Director, DRDA, Thungdeno Mozhui in her keynote address highlighted about the various activities, programme and schemes undertaken by the department in the district.
Short speeches were delivered by Chairman Wokha District Village Council Chairman Association and President Wokha District Village Development Board Association.
During the function, Assistant Programme Coordinator, DRDA presented on the topic MIS, Geotag & DBT. BDO, RD Block, Ralan Ekonthung dwelled on Aadhaar and Bank Accounts while calling upon the village functionaries to tie-up and put more effort with their respective BDO and officials to increase seeding and avail the benefit.
Block Programme Manager, RD Block, Wokha, Nzanbemo presented on NRLM, while BDO, RD Block, Tsenlumi Murry spoke on Grant-in-aid. BDO, RD Block Changpang who dwelled on PMAY (G) said that the programme was launched in 2016 but till date identification of beneficiaries is not completed so he urged the VDBs to work in coordination with the concerned officials for proper implementation of the programme.
