Mokokchung, September 13 (MExN): The 2nd Nagaland Masters Table Tennis Championship 2026 concluded at the Multipurpose Sports Complex, Mokokchung, on September 11, with around 60 veteran players competing across various age categories and events.
Organised by the Mokokchung Masters Table Tennis Association (MMTTA), the two-day championship brought together players aged 40 and above from Dimapur, Kohima, Mokokchung, Kiphire, Chümoukedima and Wokha.
The championship commenced on September 10 with an inaugural programme. Rev Visasier Kevichusa, Senior Pastor of Kingdom Culture Church, Dimapur, offered the invocation, followed by a welcome address by MMTTA president Watitoshi Ao. Sozenla Imchen presented a special number.
Special guest N Akok Longkumer, president of the NPF Central Youth Wing, encouraged the participating players to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship and use the championship as a platform for healthy competition and camaraderie.
The Technical Committee administered the oath and briefed the participants on the tournament proceedings before the matches commenced.
The closing ceremony was held on September 11 at the same venue, with Tinu Pongen, president of BJP Mandal, 26 Aonglenden Assembly Constituency, attending as the special guest. Master Maongkar presented a performance during the programme.
In the women’s events, Satemmongla Yaden won the women’s singles title, defeating Tareptola, while Imojungla and Lanutola shared third place. In women’s doubles, Satemmongla Yaden and Tareptola finished first, followed by Dr Moamongla and Lanutola. Temsumenla and Pangerlemla, and Imojungla and Tozheli, shared third place.
In the men’s 40+ singles, Visasier emerged champion, with Sendonglemba finishing second and Imdongzoba and Bendang Longkumer sharing third place.
Visasier also won the men’s 50+ singles title, while Neitsilie Meru finished second and Supongjungshi Jamir and Tianochet shared third place.
In the 40+ men’s team event, Dimapur finished first, followed by Kiphire and Chümoukedima. Dimapur also claimed the 50+ men’s team title, with Mokokchung finishing second and Kohima Team A third.
In mixed doubles, Tareptula and Sendonglemba won the title, followed by Temsumenla and Putimeren. Tozheli and Bendang Longkumer, and Supongjungshi and Satemongla Yaden, shared third place.
In the 50+ men’s doubles, Visasier and Eniro Murry secured first place, while Takosunep and Tianochet finished second. Jevito Shohe and Neitsilie Meru, and Eteilung Nsarang and Mayang Longkumer, shared third place.
In the 40+ men’s doubles, Bendang Longkumer and Talichuba Sangtam emerged winners. Imdongzoba and Mosem finished second, while Medemmongba and Supongjungshi, and Visasier and L David, shared third place.
Visasier was among the standout performers of the championship, winning the 40+ and 50+ men’s singles titles as well as the 50+ men’s doubles title.
Dimapur also emerged as the leading team, winning the 40+ and 50+ men’s team events.
