Kohima, January 10 (MExN): The total number of electors in Nagaland has risen to 13,45,197 as of January 1, 2025, according to an official statement issued by the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO).

The figure, derived from the final electoral rolls with January 1 as the qualifying date, was prepared and published on January 10 by the respective Electoral Registration Officers of all districts in the State.

Comparative analysis of last year’s data indicates that the voter count has risen by over 21,000 in the past year.

During the last publication of the final electoral rolls, with January 1, 2024, as the qualifying date, the total number of electors stood at 13,08,848, excluding the 43-Tapi Assembly Constituency.

However, the bye-election to the 43-Tapi AC on November 7, 2023, saw 15,256 eligible voters. Thus, the total number of voters in Nagaland was estimated to be little over 13.24 lakh in early 2024.

Surge in female voters, gender gap narrows
Further analysis of the electoral data reveals a significant rise in female voters in Nagaland, leading to a narrowing of the gender gap.

As of January 1, 2024, Nagaland had 13,08,848 voters, comprising 6,48,396 males and 6,52,693 females, with a gap of 4,297. By January 1, 2025, the total number of voters increased to 13,45,197, including 6,72,685 males and 6,72,509 females. The difference between male and female voters now stands at just 176.

The number of voters categorised as ‘Third Gender’ remained unchanged at three during both years.

In the ‘General Electors’ category, females maintained an edge over males, with 6,72,395 females compared to 6,65,489 males in 2025, marking a difference of 6,906. However, the dominance of male ‘Service Electors’ shifted the overall balance slightly.

The latest electoral rolls indicate that out of 7,310 Service Electors, 7,196 were males, while only 114 were females.
