Walk against violence held in Longleng 

Longleng, December 8 (MExN): In view of 16 days of activism against Gender based Violence, a walk against violence was organised at Longleng town on December 7 the District Administration and Mahila Shakti Kendra-District Level Centre for Women in collaboration with Phomla Hoichem (PH), the apex women body of the Phom community. 

As per a DIPR report, PH President, Chuimei Phom at the event encouraged the gathering to organise such programme to give platform to “show our support, strength and our stand against any form of violence against women and girl child in our society.” 

Earlier, brief introduction on the significance of the program was delivered by Niamla Phom, Women Pastor, Longleng Town Baptist Church.

The walk begin from Lempong with womenfolk shouting slogans "Stop Violence, we will not tolerate any more" and holding placards which reads "It takes four generations to recover from violence", "Stop Domestic Violence", "Think of your own daughters, sisters & wife", Say no to domestic violence", etc and culminated at Aboi junction. 

Women from different Churches, wards presidents, youth representatives from various organisation and district administration headed by SDO civil, Longleng participated in the walk, the report said. 

The walk ended with a prayer by Asangla Imchen, women pastor, Ao Baptist Church, Longleng, it added.
