Swachh Bharat Abhiyans’s Neighborhood Sanitation Committee (NSC) of three wards, Bazar A, Bazar B and High School B filled potholes in Tuensang on November 16.

About 1 kilometer of road stretch from Clock Tower area till High School junction in Tuensang was filled with soil and gravel by the leaders of the three wards, with the help of few labors of Tuensang Town Council was filled. The road stretch in the heart of the town is going from bad to worse and neither Urban Development Department nor PWD has looked into this problem.

NSC President, I Chieching and Secretary, I Hongkin Chang said that the initiative is like a ‘gift or donation’ for the people of Tuensang because the Christmas festive season is approaching and these potholes pose a threat for pedestrians as well as vehicles. They stated that they were in discussion with ADC regarding this issue and they were given one each of dumper and JCB to carry mud and fill the potholes.

The soil and gravel were donated by Lt Kikhum’s family located near 1st nullah in Tuensang which is about 2 kms away from the main town.

“The month of December will see many students and working people outside of the town returning and it is during such season many people are on the road and accidents are bound to happen if the roads are not repaired in time,” the NSC officials added.

On September 18, 2021, Chang Students’ Union Tuensang Town (CSUTT) also repaired a gaping hole at the Bazar Police Point after several requests to the authorities for repairing the roads in the town.
