Wokha, December 1 (MExN): The Wokha District Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WDCCI) and Wokha District Consumer Rights Association (WDCRA) held a joint consultative meeting with Wokha district coolies/porters to discuss their role and responsibility and impact on work market economy.
The meeting was held at Wokha District Chairman and VDBs conference hall on December 1.
Learning that coolies of Wokha are engaged in construction works which hamper normal business activities around Wokha town, the two associations after deliberation on the issue, resolved that no Coolie is allowed to engage in different works including construction works.
WDCCI president Repithung Kikon said that the market needs to be streamlined for smooth functioning with a better understanding of roles in the business activities in the town.
Abel Enny president WDCA said that the market needs to be sensitized by putting up fixed rates on all unskilled labour charges as exorbitant rate charges indirectly affect the market.
The joint setting resolved to streamline the unskilled labour charges including registration number and uniform, while around 50 coolies including locals attended the joint consultative meeting.
Meanwhile, the two association encouraged local youths to engage in unskilled and skilled labour.
