Wokha, August 31 (MExN): The Wokha District Legal Services Authority (WDLSA) established Legal Literacy Clubs in three schools on August 30 and 31.
WDLSA in a press release stated that the SP of Wokha, Manoj Kumar (IPS) inaugurated the Legal Literacy Club at Regimental School, DEF Wokha on August 30. He encouraged the students and teaching faculties to avail the opportunities of legal services and get themselves equipped with basic knowledge of law. He further encouraged them to disseminate basic rights of law to the general masses.
The SP also assured the WDLSA that every possible assistance and cooperation will be extended by the Wokha DEF if their services are required.
K Mhathung Tsanglao (NCS), Additional Deputy Commissioner, Wokha while inaugurating Legal Literacy Club at Govt Higher Secondary School, Chukitong and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Chekitong on August 31 said that the Legal Literacy Club will be beneficial not only for the club members and students but also to the area in general.
He also urged the students to protect and improve the environment against global warming and added that protecting government property is also an important fundamental duty for all the citizens.
Seyielenuo Mezhü (NJS), Judicial Magistrate First Class Cum Secretary, WDLSA in her keynote address stated that ignorance of law and lack of legal awareness creates many problems in the society and as a responsible citizen one must be equipped with the basic laws of the country and for this purpose Legal Literacy Club was established and inaugurated, she said. The objectives of establishing the club is to train the Club Members of the Legal Services in various legal aspects to create awareness like human trafficking, labour laws, POCSO Act, child rights, anti ragging.
Other objectives, she mentioned were to identify the people in need of legal awareness and legal aid and to establish a link for the people in need of assistance to the district legal services authority.
Later, the WDLSA facilitated the schools with a computer set each for the services of the Legal Literacy Clubs and further assured basic facilities like computer tables, book shelves and chairs within a couple of weeks.
