We are enablers of corruption

We have been talking about corruption in all the set ups, from the bottom to the top. Think of it. When we talk about so much about corruption in our State, whom are we referring, Naga Muslims/Naga Hindus/Pagans? I don’t think so. I am sure we are talking about the Naga Christians.

Our State, which we proudly call as a Christian State or another connotation is “Nagaland for Christ”, every single Naga person belongs to one or the other denomination. Than let us ask ourselves, why is Nagaland known to be one of the worst corrupted States in the Country?

What role has the church being playing so far to bring about a change in this particular aspect/issue? I strongly believe, till today, the church has looked the other way or have swept this issue under the carpet. And by doing so, the church has also become an enabler, indirectly. Why do we need a day of fasting for the Legislatures? Instead of fasting, is it not the duty and work of the church leaders to reprimand and correct the wrong doing of its faithful? But, we put them on the pulpits to give speeches. We happily accept their donations in terms of lakhs without any questions asked. Have we not become enablers of corruption?

We have built so many big churches to represent us as Christians to the outside world. Let’s don’t deny that many of the church pillars have been built with black money. Money that should have been used for developments / Schemes for the poor etc.

The first step to eradicate corruption in our State, The church leaders have to stand their ground and start doing what they were anointed for. Stop accepting donation money that are not accounted for. Reprimand and correct our political leaders/ Bureaucrats and guide them, instead of fasting for them. Don’t put them up on pedestals, what can they teach our youths?

Let’s stop being enablers of corruption.
