'We aspire to achieve equal future'

The International Women’s Day was observed in Tuensang under the banner of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao organised by Sakhi-One Stop Centre, Tuensang in collaboration with Mother’s Welfare Society, Tuensang on March 8 at Town Hall, Tuensang.

In a short speech, Tuensang Deputy Commissioner Kumar Ramnikant underscored the importance of the day and said that, “Women’s day is a celebration of social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.”

“We did not share equal status before but today we aspire to achieve equal future,” he added.

The programme also witnessed attendance of about 400 women folk from all over the town. The special highlight of the programme was the participation of women in icebreaker activities, laughing and having a great time of recreation.

Ayimla Sangtam, Executive Chairman, Mother’s Welfare Society, Tuensang shared their success stories and their action plan.

Two sessions on “Personal Hygiene” and “Women’s Rights, Child Abuse” were conducted by Dr Sungmo, DTO Tuensang and Antimangyang, Advocate DLSA respectively. 

Earlier, the programme was chaired by Chulongla, Centre Administrator, Sakhi-One Stop Centre, Tuensang and invocation was spoken by Makhila, Associate Pastor Women, Yimchunger Baptist Church, Tuensang. Meanwhile, Yongkhong Kelep performed a special song.
