Kohima, May 20 (MExN): A two-day International webinar on ‘Violence Against Women & Women’s Writing in English’ was organized by the Department of English, Kohima College, Kohima (KCK) on May 19 and 20.
According to a press release from the Mass Media Cell of the College, the webinar was organized with an aim to look at the issue of violence against women in the society, to broaden our understanding of what constitutes violence against women, and to discuss ways to end violence against women and achieve gender equity.
The inaugural session was chaired by Dr Konei Nakhro, Assistant Professor, KCK and the keynote address was delivered by Dr Dolly Kikon, Senior Lecturer, Anthropology & Development Studies Program, University of Melbourne.
Megovono Üsou, Associate Professor and HOD, Department of English, KCK delivered the welcome address, and the introductory note was presented by Dr Theyiesinuo Keditsu, Webinar Convener, Assistant Professor, KCK.
A total of 15 papers were presented by writers, scholars, activists, faculty spread across India and outside in four sessions, followed by Q&A/Discussion rounds after each session, the release informed.
The webinar concluded with a valedictory speech by Prof Rakhee Kalita Moral, Head, Centre for Women's Studies & Associate Professor, Department of English, Cotton University and vote of thanks delivered by Khriezenuo Vizo, Assistant Professor, KCK.
