Longleng, July 21 (MExN): The week-long SAARTHI awareness campaign on wheels, aimed at promoting family planning and educating the public on available choices, concluded successfully in Longleng District. Conducted by the District Health Society under Mission Pariwar Vikas, the campaign ran from July 15 to July 20, across all three blocks of the district.
The campaign featured the SAARTHI vehicle, a smartly designed vehicle equipped with Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials and family planning commodities. According to a press release from the Media Officer at the Chief Medical Officer's (CMO) office in Longleng, the vehicle was a central component of the awareness initiative.
Throughout the week, the campaign provided awareness and counseling to eligible couples, educating them about various family planning services and methods. Couples were sensitized about the importance of family planning, including spacing methods that allow them to decide the intervals between pregnancies and the number of children they wish to have. Temporary methods such as condoms, copper T insertions, and contraceptive pills were highlighted. The campaign also included the distribution of IEC materials, condoms, and oral contraceptive pills.
One of the key highlights of the campaign was the significant turnout at Yongnyah PHC, where the district team engaged with 28 eligible clients, the highest number recorded during the week-long event.
