The Western Phekmi Welfare Union (WPWU) commemorated its 25th founding anniversary on March 12. The silver jubilee was celebrated at Bade village, Chümoukedima, where former Minister and now the NPF Legislature Party Leader, Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu was invited as a speaker.
Nienu, who represents the Phek Assembly seat, stressed on broadening the understanding of jubilee, which he said must be a time for reconciliation and introspection.
Nienu exhorted the audience to embrace the strong and faithful principles of the elderly as a guide for leading a good life, while urging them not to overlook the good deeds and sacrifices of parents.
Underscoring the importance of finding strength in unity, Nienu called for reflection on whether the community should unite for the better or foster further discord. He cautioned against growing hardened and instead advocated for gentility as a defining characteristic. He further suggested the construction of a “common house” for the WPWU symbolising continued unity and collaboration beyond the jubilee celebration. on March 12.
