Who shall teach the children

With the noble dream of imparting free education to all children in the age group of  (6- 14) throughout the country. The HRD ministry with primary and elementary education as it primary focus has devoted both financial resources and manpower to achieve goal.

Education dept. of Nagaland too felt the need for more teacher in its school, for which an exam was conducted. It also was a window of opportunity for many hardworking graduates and post graduates looking for a job. And the subsequent result clearly justify the efforts put in by each candidate. They toiled thru the night with determination and came out victorious. And it shows that they are ready for the challanges that awaits them. Among the thousands that was selected were fresh graduates, B.Ed trained candidates and teachers who have been working in private school for a number of years, few got thru based on sheer luck.

Among those candidate who failed to make the cut were M Phils, PG and  B.Ed trained candidates too. It’s harsh reality, but Alas! they were found wanting on the exam day. But it is not the end of the road for them, just an opportunity missed.

Being a B.Ed trained Professional serving as a teacher. I value B.Ed training and its advantage in the field of teaching. But believe me I have overheard many of my classmate commenting that, ‘they are least bothered about their grades and only need the degree’. Having a B.Ed degree alone does not make one a good teacher. As society progress curriculum change, teaching method needs contineous improvisation. And a teacher should adapt fast with the changing scenario there is no room for complacency. After all its survival of the fittest.

If anyone thinks that he deserve the prize. Let Him go out to the ground, play hard and win it. Snatching the trophy from a person who has already won it ain’t winning.

For all that the Children need is a Teacher who can bring out the best in them.
