A novel health scheme in Nagaland coined as “Community Based Rural Health Scheme” (CBRHS) was launched here today and brought smiles to the people of 18th Chozuba Assembly Constituency as they will be getting proper medical treatment and care soon under this project.

This scheme was initiated by elected representative from 18th Chozuba A/C, Chotisuh Sazo Parliamentary Secretary for Social Welfare & Women Development in association with Bethel Medical Centre Kohima (BMCK). This is an effort to expand access to health care to the community in rural areas. Chozuba, under Phek district lies around 70 kms away from state capital Kohima.

This scheme envisages insurance coverage for all the people of 18th Chozuba A/C who have not been covered under RSBY scheme irrespective of party affiliation. This novel project is initially for a period of one year at BMCK. All the registered persons from 18th Chozuba A/C will be covered. However, the beneficiaries of the RSBY scheme will not be covered. The scheme aims to safeguard the community’s health from the impact of illness and reduces the financial burden as well as the mental stress associated with it.

Speaking at the launching function, Sazo said the health of the people topped his agenda for which MoU was signed with the BMCK for implementation of CBRHS for the benefit and welfare of the constituency.

Quoting “Health is wealth,” Sazo said that although one may be rich, educated, having luxury buildings or vehicles but if he/she is not in good health all that wealth is of no use. He believed that one can do everything when he/she is healthy.

Sazo said the process of registration for Health Card under CBRHS will be completed within September, adding the scheme will be implemented by Ist October this year. He asserted that if the scheme proved successful, other districts will emulate it and he would later move for introduction in other districts of the state. Referring to medical camp, Sazo said the camp is not confined to 18th Chozuba Assembly Constituency alone but it is open to everyone and asked all the people to come forward and avail medical facilities. Dr. Kezhalezo Angami, proprietor, Bethel Medical Centre Kohima and Dr. S. Murarka from Lions Club North Kolkata also spoke at the launching service.

A free medical camp also started today and will continue till September 4 at Lt.Vamuzo Memorial Town Hall, Chozuba, was an added asset to the scheme. The camp was jointly organized and sponsored by AMRI Hospital Kolkata, Lions Club North Kolkata and Chotisuh Sazo.
