Online slogan competition winners announced
Mokokchung, October 10 (MExN): The Wildlife Week celebration in commemoration of Gandhi Jayanti was observed by Mokokchung Forest Division in the first week of October.
According to a press release from the Division, the main objective was to accelerate awareness and protection of wildlife and to work towards achieving its conservation.
As part of the celebration, a programme was organized by the Division in co-ordination with Care and Support Society, Mokokchung with around 30 Self Help Groups (SHGs) from Mokokchung village in attendance.
Saplings were distributed to all the participants to mark the occasion and to work towards conservation, the release informed.
Divisional Forest Officer Dr Sentitula, IFS, Mokokchung gave the keynote address and urged the participants to work towards balancing conservation and livelihood. Scientific management of piggery and poultry to enhance livelihood was also addressed. Moamongba, Range Officer, Changtongya spoke on the importance of Wildlife week celebration and shared the conservation works done by Mahatma Gandhi.
An online slogan contest for students was also organized, with students divided into two groups- Category A (Class VI-VIII) and Category B (Class IX-XII).
Winners have been informed to collect the cash award and certificate with a valid ID card from the Divisional Forest Office Mokokchung, Sungkomen Ward during office working hours from October 12 onwards.
