Wokha: Dist Health Society discusses various schemes, challenges and issues

Wokha, June 21 (MExN): District Health Society, Wokha held a meeting at Conference Hall of Dr Motsuo Memorial District Hospital (DMMDH) Wokha on June 21. A press release from Chief Medical Officer’s Office, Wokha stated that the Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of District Health Society, Ajit Kumar Ranjan, IAS said the meeting was called to discuss on district health statistics, implementation of various programme, schemes, projects under medical department, challenges and issues. 

Wokha DC commented on the scope of Village Health Nutrition Day (VHND) can create to improve health services, community engagements, information, education and communication activities. Convergence of vertical programme during VHNDs will be effective to solve many issues faced by the medical department, he added.

Ajit Kumar Ranjan, IAS encouraged the district hospital authorities to expand its health services so as to increase footfall in the hospital.

A presentation on district health status was given by Mhonbeni Ezung, District Programme Manager where she highlighted on the status of health units, immunization and service delivery elements. 

Dr Akum Jamir, District Nodal Officer, National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme briefed the attendees on the status of TB activities in the district. He informed on the use of Nikshay Application and monitoring of TB patients in the district. On the status of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna scheme, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Dr Zuben Kikon said health insurance card for more than 15,000 beneficiaries have been generated in the district and Beneficiary Identification System drive will be conducted at periphery level to increase the number. 

Presentations were also given by Nagaland Health Project, National Tobacco Control Programme, Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram, National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme, National Leprosy Eradication Programme and District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit and issues, challenges and way forward discussed during the meeting.

The meeting was chaired by Dr Thungbemo Patton, Medical Superintendant, DMMDH and a brief introductory session was held before commencement of the meeting. Extra Assistant Commissioner Wokha I Yentinoungbuo, Chief Medical Officer Wokha, Dr Tumchobeni, programme officers and staffs of vertical programme, medical officers and staffs of District Programme Management Unit attended the meeting.
