Wokha ready to contain Measles-Rubella and eradicate TB

Wokha, August 28 (MExN): District TB Forum members, Wokha, and DTFI Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign held a joint meeting with the stakeholders at the Deputy Commissioner's Conference hall, Wokha on August 28 with Dr. Robin Lotha CMO Wokha, as the Chairperson.  

In the first session of the meeting Dr Khelito Zhimomi DPO, Wokha spoke on complete Measles-Rubella Vaccination of children for their safety as it becomes life threatening at times for children.  

In the second session, Dr Benchilo Ngullie, DTO speaking on the objectives of the Forum stated that reducing TB related stigma and discrimination, ensuring social security and dignity of TB patients and their families, creating awareness on various government schemes, provisions, facilities and improving treatment facilities etc, are a part of the objectives.  

She also said that there is a national strategic plan to eradicate the disease by 2030 and to achieve it effort is being made for universal access to quality TB diagnosis and treatment for all TB patients in the community. She further highlighted that under newer initiative, activities have been going on since 2018, with a target to enhance TB case findings for the purpose of total eradication of the disease in the district.  

Robin Lotha, CMO Wokha encouraged the members and the stakeholders to put consorted effort in helping one another and to overcome the disease by focusing on the available opportunities for cure at people’s doorstep rather than caving into the fear of stigma and discrimination from the society.  

ADC Wokha, Mhathung Tsanglao also observed that having nutritional support system in the rural areas will help in prevention of Tuberculosis disease and will expedite cure and recovery of health of patients.  

Success stories of complete cure were shared by former patients who thanked the concern department and the Doctors for their guidance, support and dedication and they also encouraged that instead of ignoring the disease one should deal with it at the right time to lead a TB free life.  

Deputy CMO, Wokha Dr. Zuben Kikon, who gave the vote of thanks, also assured that the medical department, Wokha is always ready to assist and support in the endeavour to contain Measles-Rubella and to eradicate TB for a healthy Society.
