Awareness campaign held in Wokha 

Wokha, November 20 (MExN): An awareness campaign on ‘women empowerment through entrepreneurship’ was jointly organized by Department of RDP, NU: SASRD in collaboration with STINER-TFC, NU: SASRD and Lotha Eloe Hoho, Wokha at Pangti Baptist Ekhumkho Ki on November 19.

It was held under the initiative of Prof Akali Sema, Dean, SASRD and PI, STINER-TFC, SASRD: NU. 

The programme was aimed at motivating women to take up entrepreneurship as a platform to bring out their skills and strive towards economic independence, especially focusing on the current pandemic situation and the wide scope that lies ahead. 

Resource persons for the event were, Thungdemo Ovung, Proprietor, Bio-Dynamics, Wokha and Executive member, NOK, Fuchumbeni, Proprietor, Fuchum Sweet Box, Wokha, Libeni Kikon, Director, Oriflame business, Distributor: Ok Lifecare, Lokyungu, Proprietor, Florist & Wedding Planner, Wokha, ZumroJungi, Asst. Branch Manager, Wokha District.

Experiences, ideas and the various potential sectors that can be ventured into and the various types of loans that are available for start-ups were discussed for the benefit of the aspiring participants.  The topics covered were on ‘Strategies and tips of networking in business, ‘Value added products: an upcoming enterprise,’ ‘Tomato farming: an enterprising venture’ and ‘The Business of social events- Florist review’ and ‘Start-up Loans: An Overview.’ 

The technical session was followed by an interaction session where participants could attain more information on the various topics discussed and also more on entrepreneurship and its huge potential in the state.

The programme was chaired by Dr Mary N Odyuo, Assistant Professor, Department of RDP, SASRD:NU, while the welcome address and Opening remarks was delivered by Dr Sentirenla Changkiri, Project Assistant, STINER-TFC, SASRD: NU. 

This was followed by an Exhortation by Zuchobeni Ezung, President, Lotha Eloe Hoho. A total of 61 young women participated in the event.
