Wokha, March 8 (MExN): The Wokha District Administration, DLCW-MSK in collaboration with Sakhi-OSC, Wokha District Legal Services Authority (WDLSA) and Lotha Eloe Hoho under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) organized the International Women’s at VDB hall, Wokha on March 8.
The event was organized on the theme ‘Women in Leadership: Achieving an Equal Future in a COVID-19 World.’
According to updates from the DIPR, Judicial Magistrate and Secretary WDLSA, Khrievono Seletsu spoke about the tremendous efforts shown by women around the world in shaping a more equal future and recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. As the COVID -19 pandemic began, what has caught the attention of the world amongst other facts is the active participation of women in handling the COVID-19 crisis as health care workers, caregivers, as scientists, homemakers, community organizers and innovators and also as some of the most exemplary and effective national leaders in combating the pandemic, she stated.
She also said that women have demonstrated their skills, knowledge and networks to effectively lead in COVID-19 response and brought about acceptance that women can bring different experiences, perspective and skills to make irreplaceable contributions towards decision making, policies and laws.
This is also a day to remind ourselves of our capabilities and strength and to take pride in being women, she added.
Meanwhile, EAC (Judicial) Wokha, I Yentinoungbou acknowledged the contributions and efforts women have made in bringing about change and reformation in various fields.
During the function, awards were also given to the winners of the selfie competition conducted during the National Girl Child week in January. A short speech was also delivered by President Lotha Eloe Hoho Zuchopeni Ezung, the updates stated.
