Kohima, August 28 (MExN): The Literary Society of Don Bosco College, Kohima organised a two-day workshop on August 16 and 17 on the topic ‘Language and Writing Skills.’ Altogether 70 students and teachers attended the workshop.
Dr. Imlienla Imchen, Assistant Professor, Centre for Tribal Languages and Studies, Nagaland University animated the participants on Phonetics, Organs of Speech and various Consonantal and Vowel Sounds. Imchen laid emphasis on the importance of the uniqueness of language which makes men different from other living beings. She identified the differences of sounds and tones uttered by the diverse tribes in our State as well as on the English we speak to those of the native English speakers. On writing skills, she illustrated on the mechanics of writing, the usage of proper punctuations and vocabulary.
Dr. Toshimenla, Assistant Professor, DBCK delivered the welcome note and concluded with a proposal of vote of thanks by Dr. Adenuo Luikham, Assistant Professor, DBCK.
