Dimapur, October 2 (MExN): A one-day workshop on the theme ‘Oral Traditions: An Archive Without Pages’ was organised jointly by the Department of History, Immanuel College, Dimapur, and Eastern Christian College, Dimapur, at the Multipurpose Hall, Eastern Christian College, according to a statement.
The programme brought together teachers and students to reflect on the importance of oral traditions as valuable sources of history and cultural heritage, a press release received here stated.
The highlight of the workshop was an oral presentation by Dr Aokumla Walling, Assistant Professor, Department of History and Archaeology, Nagaland University, Kohima Campus, Meriema, who spoke on the significance of preserving memories, traditions, stories and indigenous knowledge passed down through generations.
The programme also featured special presentations, including “Heritage in Motion” by Eastern Christian College and “Voices Woven in Time” by Immanuel College, showcasing the richness of cultural heritage and its continued relevance in the present.
The Department of History, Immanuel College, was represented by Imjingla Imchen, Head of the Department of History, who served as the chairperson, and N Chumei Konyak, Assistant Professor, Department of History, who delivered the benediction.
