Peren, December 2 (MExN): Along with the rest of the world, Peren district observed World AIDS Day at Athibung Town Hall on December 1.
The programme, organised by DAPCU, CMO Peren in collaboration with Assam Rifle Ahthibung, PHC Ahthibung, Cultural Club of Ahthibung,NPDP+, Peren Users Network, saw participations by various leaders and citizen from the town.
Sharing on significance of the day, Rovikhoto Mor, DPO (DAPCU) highlighted that HIV is still very prevalent in the society.
To this end, DPO requested the society to join hands in fighting against the epidemic and support the People Living With HIV (PLHIV).
Major AS Negi, who was the special guest, also noted that everyone has a role to play and requested the members to be responsible in fighting against the epidemic.
Dr Vezokholü Khamo, MO PHC Ahthibung dwelt on the theme of the day stressed that discrimination at all level need to stop and equal treatment and respect should be given to everybody in the society.
As per a release from CMO Office Peren, the programme was chaired by Mangkholen also saw a special number from Nemboi Sitlhou and the vote of thank proposed by Ngamkhoneh.
