Food distribution during World day against child albour
Dimapur, June 24 (MExN): The National Domestic Workers Movement (NDWM) - Child Right Movement- Nagaland Region in collaboration with Assisi Centre for Integrated Development commemorated World Day Against Child Labour on June 22 in Assisi Auditorium.
S Pramila Lobo UFS, Coordinator of NDWM – Nagaland Region highlighted the day’s importance.
Stressing this year’s theme ‘Protect children from Child Labour, Now More Than Ever,’ she said that unlike other years, though campaigns could not be conducted, but we can still stand together and fight against child labour.
She stated that the COVID- 19 pandemic has made a huge impact on the lives of the people and their livelihood, and that children are the ones who suffer more. “The crisis can push more children in to child labour,” she stated.
The day is commemorated “so that no brother or sister or friend of ours end up as a child labour,” she said.
According to a press release from the NDWM- Child Right Movement- Nagaland Region, Sr Mary Dukru NDWM-CRM member enlightened the participants on both the advantages and disadvantages of the use of mobile phones, since the lockdown period children are having online classes.
Toka shared the safety measures to be followed during the COVID-19 pandemic. He also enlightened the children on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The programme ended with distribution of food relief to the 53 CRM children who attended the event.
