The World Girl Guide Centenary Memorial Building was inaugurated at State Training Centre, Nerhema in Kohima district on October 6.
It was inaugurated by Nini Meru, Life Member and First Vice Patron of the Nagaland State Bharat Scouts & Guides (NSBSG) as the Special Guest.
Addressing the gathering, Meru urged upon the young Scouts and Guides to prepare and face the various challenges in life.
“We do not know what is ahead of us. We do not know what we are going to face,” she said, adding that the younger generation was at the beginning of its journey and needed to be prepared for different situations.
Meru said that through becoming a Guide or Scout, young people are trained to face various circumstances in life.
“Do not think that it is just a game, but it is the way of training you to face life,” she said.
She further encouraged the youth to prepare not only for life but also for eternity, stressing the importance of faith in Jesus Christ.
“As a grandmother, as a mother, as a teacher, I'm telling you, be prepared for this life and for eternity,” Meru said.
Vimezhonu Tetso, State Organising Commissioner (Guide), delivered keynote address while Nancy Kikon, Vice-Patron and Convener of the Building Committee presented the building report.
Other team of the Building committee includes; M.Sale, (Retd).SS & SOC(G), Nino Iralu, Former State Commissioner (Guide), I. Amenla Soyah STC(Guide), Thejazeu Khruomo, SC (Guide) and Vimezhonu Tetso,SOC (Guide).
Nancy Kikon had taken special voluntary interest in making the Girl Guide Centenary Memorial Building see its reality with special specifications in the interest of the Guide wing in all aspects.
All members have given their best in making this Building see the light of the day.
Nino Iralu, Chubanungla, Yanpolumi Humtsoe and Thejazeu Khruomo have been instrumental in the furnishings of the House with the contribution from Khrienuo Tachii.
Later, the occasion also marked the birthday of V. Bano Sakhrie (92 years), senior guide captain.
The inaugural programme was chaired by Yanpolumi Humtsoe, State Commissioner (Guide) while Rev. Vilanyü Üsou, Pastor, Nerhema Baptist Church invoked God’s blessings.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Chubanungla, State Chief Commissioner, followed by a thanksgiving prayer.
