Mokokchung Photography Club marked World Photography Day by organising a street photography event on August 19.

Mokokchung, August 19 (MExN): The Mokokchung Photography Club (MPC) marked World Photography Day on August 19 by organising a special street photography event under the theme “My Favourite Photo.”
Club members fanned out across various locations in the town to document candid moments, celebrating the art of visual storytelling. The initiative aimed to highlight photography's role as a powerful medium to preserve culture, narrate stories, and inspire perspectives, beyond just a hobby or profession.
MPC General Secretary Moa Among Pongen said the day was an opportunity to “freeze moments in time that might otherwise be forgotten” and to encourage young photographers to take up the craft with passion and responsibility. Jonathan Ao, senior member of MPC, said, “Through such initiatives, the Mokokchung Photography Club hopes to create greater awareness about the role of photography in society while nurturing local talents who can represent Mokokchung and Nagaland through their lenses on larger platforms.”
The event also served as an interactive platform for members to exchange ideas and engage with the community.
Kohima: Photography Club Kohima (PCK) celebrated its 5th Anniversary coinciding with the World Photography Day celebration at Khonoma village on August 19.
Speaking on the occasion as the resource Person, Pelevizo Meyase, freelance photographer and filmmaker shared his experiences on wildlife and landscape photography and his works which includes documenting Clouded Leopard population survey in Nagaland, while working closely with Dr Giri an Independent researcher.
Meanwhile, Lt Col Amit Shukla, PRO & Spokesperson, Ministry of Defence, Manipur, Nagaland and Southern Arunachal Pradesh, said that Naga youth have lot of potential especially in hospitality and further encouraged the younger generations to explore more in other avenues too.
Altogether, 18 members participated in the celebration where a village tour and visitation of paddy fields while exploring the areas through the lens was conducted.
Later, Velukho Nakro was inducted as the president of the Photography Club, Kohima replacing Suchamayang Kichu for the next tenure.
