Unbelievable? Believe it. One of the rarest books of the Holy Bible ever printed is kept safely for display at Mokokchung Museum, Spring Villa Dilong Ward. The much smaller than a grownup’s thumb nail Bible has the complete Lord’s Prayer inscribed in it. “I got it from Mainz, Germany years ago which I cannot even remember” said the proprietor of the museum Rendekala. If one has to go through the prayer one has to apply a high powered magnifying glass.

She has a houseful collection of rare and ancient cultural ornaments which were passed down by her ancestors. “I made the museum open to all so as to highlight and make aware to the modern youth who has forgotten (or almost) their own culture and tradition” further said the 81 year old granny.

Indigenous hand weaved colored Naga-Shawls believed to be made during the late 18th century is also in put on show.

Established recently in 2004, the one of a kind museum has been attracting even tourist from across the globe besides having local visitors queuing up to have a glimpse on the ancient bits and pieces.

“This is my lifetime collection and I want to contribute it to the next generation” granny added, who wants to keep the culture and tradition of the Nagas alive through her collection of ancient Naga treasures.

Besides the mentioned treasure one can picture the ancient “tool” which was used as the medium of buying goods. Ancient coins, Lightning Axe “Tsüngyi Po”, Magic Stone known as “Arenlong”, fossils remains of wood and many more striking odds and ends are in display at the collection.

Also one of the adding points of the museum is that fooding and lodging are also provided for visiting tourist at a very minimum charge.
