Dimapur, April 12 (MExN): The Western Sümi Baptist Akukuhou Kuqhakulu (WSBAK) is commemorating its Platinum Jubilee in 2022 by setting up a ‘Platinum College’ under the theme ‘Posterity.’

According to a press release received on Monday, the foundation stone for the college was laid at WSBAK Resource Centre, Nihokhu Village, by Nagaland PHED Minister Jacob Zhimomi on April 10. The minister is also said to have planted a black rubber tree sapling at the college site ‘signifying hope for better and brighter future.’

On the occasion, minister Zhimomi noted that 75 years of church establishment is a big achievement and commended the WSBAK for establishing a college for the future generation. “Education is the best investment, and the best thing our generation can give to the future generation is education,” the press release quoted the minister as saying. “This is an ambitious project, and we need full dedication to strive for the younger generation to lead people,” it added.

The minister also called on the people to focus on community development and asked the leaders and elders to ‘be an example’ and ‘walk the talk.’ Stating that it was all part of God’s plan, “let us all join hands to make this successful,” he added.

As per the press release, Executive Secretary of WSBAK Rev Dr Phughoto Sema shared that the WSBAK wants to establish the college in commemoration of Platinum Jubilee and ‘it will be solely done by prayer, contribution and support of 170 churches under WSBAK.’ He shared that ‘Posterity’ was chosen as the theme of the college with a vision to build a better and brighter future generation.

He further expressed hope that the WSBAK has plans to complete at least five buildings including one administrative building, one boys and girls hostel each, one dining hall and one church building, before the Platinum Jubilee in December 2022.

This ceremony was attended by Western Sümi Hoho, Western Sümi Kukami Hoho, Western Sümi Totimi Hoho and many other apex bodies including pastors, deacons of 170 churches under WSBAK, according to the press release.
