Dimapur, December 1 (MExN): Weavers’ Service Centre (WSC)-Dimapur, Office of Development Commissioner (Handlooms), Government of India, Ministry of Textiles completed 6 weeks training programme on ‘Entrepreneurship cum Skill Development Program on Handlooms.’
Held in association with Branch MSME - Development Institute, Dimapur, the programme was carried out from November 14 at WSC’s Extension Centre, NHHDC Premises, Half Nagarjan, Dimapur.
In the programme Er Tali Longchar, Director i/c, MSME, GoI welcomed the participants, while Lithrongla G Chishi, Principal Secretary, Industries & Commerce, Government of Nagaland was the special guest.
She advised the new entrepreneurs to start handloom business with the help of Weavers Service Centre so that the people will get job opportunities and change their lifestyles, stated a press release from WSC. She appreciated WSC, Dimapur for taking such initiatives and assisting the Handloom sector in Nagaland. The programme was felicitated by Zakabo Rotoka, MD, NHHDC Ltd, Dimapur.
He advised that WSC can monitor and assist the trainees till they become successful entrepreneurs. Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr V Sivakkumar, Deputy Director, WSC Dimapur. In the afternoon session, Training of Trainers pertaining to Samarath Scheme (Capacity Building in Handloom Sector) was carried out by Dr Sivakkumar in order to mould the master trainers to train the weavers in weaving, dyeing and designing areas.
He told that the highest opportunity was given to Nagaland state under this scheme compared to other states and WSC mobilised the scheme among all districts. He reported that WSC Dimapur had shortlisted 800 trainees in weaving, 460 trainees in designing and 60 trainees in dyeing throughout Nagaland in order to train under this scheme. 18 master trainers attended and were trained for the schemes and procedures.
