WSSU serves 5-day ultimatum to Dimapur DC to check sale of liquor

DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 2 (MExN): The Western Sumi Students' Union (WSSU) has served a 5 day ultimatum to the Dimapur Deputy Commissioner to check pubs/clubs, restaurants and hotels which are “still openly catering and promoting sale of liquor under the pretext of running a business.” The WSSU reminded that it had issued a letter asking the same on November 22, but there has been no positive development. “WSSU is dismayed over the concerned department for shattering high hopes and faith of the students' union and general populace by choosing to sleep over it despite knowing the ground reality,” it stated. It demanded that the concerned authority look into the matter on a priority basis and do the needful within a period of 5 days with effect from December 2. “Failing to do so, the students' union will have no other option but resort to its own course of action for the welfare of the students’ community and general populace,” it informed.
