Dimapur, June 1 (MExN): The American Canyon City in US held its Memorial Day function at the Veterans Memorial Park with the US Coast Guard Commander Thomas Miele (Retired), as the keynote speaker on May 30.
The function was attended by veterans, relatives, the public, and officials headed by Mayor Leon Garcia, stated an update from Dr V Nienu.
“This year’s function had a special significance for the Nagas. Although he served in the British Army during WWII and not in the US forces, the late Sovehu Nienu was among those veterans remembered,” he stated.
Sovehu’s nephew, Dr V Nienu read out his name and dedicated a US national flag during the ceremony, as with many others from this city who fought in various wars, it stated.
