Dimapur, January 23 (MExN): Regarding as “one of the architects and founding fathers of the Yimchungrü tribe,” lt P Hopong Angh has passed away at the age of 111 on January 15. The Yimchungrü Baptist Borü Amukhungto (YBBA) in a condolence message said that late Hopung was the first president of the Yimchungrü Tribal Council in 1948. He was a pioneer in school education, church formation and also a part of the Naga national movement from inception till his last breath. “In his demise, the Yimchungrü in particular and Nagas in general have lost a library of Naga history and legacy. We pray for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace,” YBBA Executive Secretary Dr SJ Akhum stated in the condolence note.
