Yemhi Memorial College hosts 12th sports meet

DIMAPUR, February 17 (MExN): Yemhi Memorial College concluded its 12th Annual Sports Meet on Wednesday under the theme “Unite, Triumph, and Conquer.” The three-day event, held from February 12 to 14, featured students competing in various sports and activities. The inaugural ceremony was chaired by Yemhi Memorial College Students’ Council (YMCSC) President Shekhaho Chophy, with Vice Principal Toyeto Chishi attending as the chief guest. Chishi, in his address, emphasized the importance of unity in overcoming challenges, both in sports and life.

Three teams—Akagami, Straw Hats, and Defenders—participated in the competitions. Akagami emerged as the overall champion, while Straw Hats secured second place. The Defenders were recognized as the “Best Disciplined Team” for their sincerity and efforts throughout the event. The first day of the sports meet was held on the college campus, focusing on indoor activities, while the second and third days took place at the Forest Department’s Institutional Training Ground. A special game of musical chairs was organized exclusively for BA 6th semester students, with a cash prize sponsored by the Department of Political Science. The closing ceremony was chaired by YMCSC General Secretary Vikucho Z. Achumi, followed by a prize distribution. Akali Sumi, Head of the History Department, delivered the benediction to mark the conclusion of the event.
