Thenyizu, December 28 (MExN): The Yhosunutso Clan held its second ‘historic’ gathering at Thenyizu village under Phek district on December 27, marking 30 years since the unification of its four sub-clans – Kapu, Resu, Thisa, and Poru.

Dr Rev P Bonny Resu, Lead Pastor of Chakhesang Baptist Church, Dimapur, addressed the gathering and called upon members to uphold honesty, maintain availability for societal responsibilities, and embrace teachability as they work toward strengthening their community. He encouraged the clan to preserve and build upon the legacy of unity and peace handed down by their forebears, stated a press release issued by Yhosunutso Clan media team.

Traditional blessings were pronounced by the oldest clan member, Makhu Thisa, and prayers were led by Vesakho Thisa, Director of Children’s Ministry at CBCC. The gathering also saw speeches from clan representatives of Thepuphi Kapu, Veluzo Poru, Vekhwutso Resu, and Er. Thenu-o Thisa.

A resolution was passed to organise a general meeting and census every 10 years. The clan also instituted awards for excellence in education and sports, including the Lt Chorhitso Thisa Memorial Award, sponsored by his children, to honor HSLC and HSSLC toppers. According to the latest census, the Yhosunutso clan consists of 827 members across the four sub-clans under Thenyizu village. Leadership for the 2025-2030 term was also announced, with Kehuthita Thisa elected as President and Vekedu Resu as General Secretary.

The event also reflected on a historic pledge made by the eldest members of the clan on January 16, 1986, which affirmed unity and peace among the four sub-clans. This pledge, commemorated with a stone on February 16, 1994, continues to serve as a guiding principle for the clan's future generations.
