
Kiphire | August 29 : In the midst of issues and counter media war between two sister communities in the same family the so called Yimchunger Liberation Front (YLF) around 20-30 members today kidnapped four Tikhirs at around 11.30 am from High bridge between Sikur and Lasukiur while they were travelling in a Gypsy NL-03-1456. The group of Tikhirs were on their way from Waphur to Kiusum for the Tikhir Tribal Council (TTC) meeting at Kiusum tomorrow.
Of the four kidnapped i.e. W.K Merenba, Chairman Kiusum Village Council, Venthong, driver L.Mongtsiu GB Shamator Village and P.Yamliu of Shamator village, two were released at around 4.30 Pm and the other two are still in the custody of YLF and the Tikhir student union tonight lodged an FIR to the Kiphire police station.
Giving the statement to the police the victims who were released while appearing in the police station said, they were blindfolded and were also physically assaulted. Interacting with this Correspondent, the President Yimchunger Tribal Council said, there was no organisation such as Yimchunger Liberation Front. However he said that he had got the information about the kidnapping. So far there has been no break through on the where about of the kidnapped victims. An FIR was lodged by the Tikhir Student Union.
