Yingli College Longleng inaugurates newly upgraded boys’ hostel 

Longleng, November 18 (MExN): The newly upgraded boys’ hostel of Yingli College Longleng was officially inaugurated on November 15 with Dr Apeni Lotha, Director, Higher Education, Nagaland, Kohima, as special guest. 

The hostel was constructed through Rashtriya Uchchattar Shiksha Abhiyan (National Higher Education Mission) by the Department of Higher Education, Nagaland, informed a DIPR report.

The inauguration plaque was unveiled by Dr Apeni after dedicatory prayer by Pastor, Bhumnyΰ Baptist Church, Rev N Mongmei Phom, at a short event chaired by Asst Prof Dr Vizolenuo Sophie. 

The members of Evangelical Union, Yingli College presented the college anthem and the proceeding thereafter shifted to Borgohain Hall for the subsequent parts of the programme where the principal, Dr T Temsu Imti welcome the gathering.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Apeni congratulated the college on opening of the new hostel and expressed hope that the hostel will be properly utilised for the further extension of higher education in the district. 

She further encouraged the students, teachers, non-teaching staff and the land donors of the college to give their best for uplifting higher education in the district.

Dr Apeni also handed over to the college Principal a sum of RRs 1 lakh to be used for the accreditation purpose of the college and Rs 30000 for the overall arrangement made for the success of the programme. 

The Director further appreciated the college for proper maintaining of the college infrastructure and keeping its campus beautiful. 
She wished the college to get high ranking for the forth coming NAAC accreditation, the DIPR report added. 

Meanwhile, Joint Director, Higher Education, Nagaland & State Project Director, RUSA, Menuokholie Kire spoke about the implementation of the project in the college. 

He also highlighted the hostel helped the state government by being used as a COVID-19 quarantine centre for the people of Longleng district even before its inauguration.

Also speaking on the occasion, the Chairman of Bhumnyΰ Village Council, S Angam Phom called for compensating the donors of the college’s land must at the earliest, the report added. 

The programme concluded after the Vote of Thanks pronounced by the college Vice Principal Dr B Henshet Phom.
