Longleng, December 3 (MExN): The newly constructed Yongsha Morung at Tangha village under Longleng district was inaugurated on December 2 with ENPO, General Secretary C Manlang Angto, as special guest. B Hamphe, Pastor Tangha Village Baptist Church offered the dedicatory prayer.
A DIPR report said that C Manlang Angto urged upon the people to preserve the rich cultural and traditional values by introducing and initiating Morung education system for the younger generation. He stated that Morung has many things to teach us, where during our forefathers time the Morung served as transistor of passing on to respect elders and inculcated awareness of the practices and important of old traditions without transgressing Christian values. However, he regretted that people no longer visit Morung, but just uphold some age-old tradition of structuring it and play of log-drum only during festivals.
The programme was attended by ENPO officials, Yongsha Hau Wangshong from Yongshei village, and citizens representing different bodies of Tangha village lead by TVC chairman and citizens President. Besides the special guest, Yongsha Hau Wangshong, Hensha, TVC Yongnyei, Oldest man of the Morung and Wanmon DB spoke during the programme.
