YSU endorses KYGK’s ultimatum

Dimapur, March 21 (MExN): The Yemishe Students Union (YSU) on Saturday endorsed the 15 day ultimatum served by the Kulolau Yemishe Ghami Kuqhakulu (KYGK) to the state government with regard to the killing of Toishe Yepthomi on August 16, 2019.

In a press release, the YSU President and General Secretary expressed resentment against the state’s law enforcing agencies over the delay and claimed that the “crime accused Khekato is said to be moving around freely.” “Therefore, it is seemingly possible that a foul play is being played between state machinery and the accused which might be the reason behind the delay in delivering justice for almost three years now,” the release stated.

The YSU further referred to the response of the NSCN (R) to the KGYK and said that the group’s leadership appears to be content with an “unofficial and unverified confessional statement.” “The leaders of the NSCN (R) should not misunderstand our genuine effort to give justice to the bereaved family members,” the YSU stated, while asserting that it was not on a “mudslinging campaign against any individual or government.”
