Chümoukedima, August 11 (MExN): Metemneo festival cum felicitation programme organised by Yimchungrü Students Union Chümoukedima (YSUC) was successfully celebrated at YSUC Treasury on August 8 with Assistant Commandant 1st NAP, Chümoukedima, Soriso as special guest.
YSUC in a press release said speaking on the occasion, the Assistant Commandant called upon the students and public to preserve the culture as this is the identity of the tribe and encouraged the students to inherit the cultural activity. Soriso urged the students to put sincere efforts in studies to achieve high ranks. Adding that, an educated person is one who gives importance to its native place, he said, “as student one should not only acquire knowledge but also impart the cultural hereditary and identity.”
In his welcome address, President YSUC, Asuthong Janger lauded the Yimchungrü Arihako Chümoukedima, Yimchungrü Liberü Arihako Chümoukedima, Su-rale Dancing Club and various organizations for their cooperation in organising the programme. YA president also delivered a short speech.
The function was hosted by Lelimthong, Assistant Education & Statistical Secretary (YSUC) and Rejoila, women coordinator (YSUC) while invocation was pronounced coordinator (YSUC) while invocation was pronounced by Pastor Akhum, YBBC. Significance of 'Metemneo festival' was delivered by Tsukhumla Y and followed by modern folk song Ato Yim (Indihut artist) while illusion crew presented a dance.
The celebration was marked by various cultural dances being performed by Su-ra-le cultural troups and Yimchungrü Students Union Chümoukedima. The programme concluded with benediction by Alila, Associate Pastor Women. The celebration was well attended by Yimchungrü officers, leaders from organization, elders, students and general public.
