Yung Aung-led NSCN (K) rejects & directs new group to ‘disband’

Dimapur, July 4 (MExN): The Yung Aung-led NSCN (K) today stated that it “categorically rejects the formation of a new faction by the expelled former members” and directed the new group to “disband” immediately.

“As a revolutionary organisation spearheading the Naga People's struggle, the NSCN/GPRN strongly take this as an open defiance to the aspiration of the Eastern Naga public for peace and stability and a direct threat to the on-going struggle,” stated a press release issued by the MIP, Yung Aung-led NSCN (K).

“It is a huge disappointment that these expelled members have chosen to embark on the path of violence and bloodshed despite the best effort and repeated appeal from the public,” it maintained, further terming Maj Gen (Rtd) Ang Mai and Maj Gen Langnyei as “nothing but the proxy of the Indian intelligence to counter the NSCN/GPRN.”

It also advised that the new group to “abandon their selfish ambition and stop deceiving the innocent public or they will be answerable to the Naga people” and stated that no amount of accusations and propagandas can substantiate their mistakes.

The Yung Aung-led NSCN (K) further censured the Maj Gen Langnyei’s reported claims of “walking in the footsteps” of late Chairman SS Khaplang as ‘empty blabbering and total lies.’

Late Khaplang is a true Naga revolutionary to the core and a leader of principle and taking his name personal benefit and for scoring points before the public amounts to dishonouring his legacy, it added.

It also expressed appreciation to the “strong decision” reportedly taken by the Eastern Naga public, civil societies and student bodies to denounce the new group and their activities.

The Yung Aung-led NSCN (K) also directed the new group to disband “immediate effect” and surrender themselves before the public.
This the only viable way forward as the NSCN/GPRN “will not co-exist with reactionary forces and will be compelled to response with appropriate action,” it added.

“As we announce this decision, we remain confident in the support and understanding of all the patriotic Nagas,” it added.

It must be noted here that a press statement issued by Maj Gen Langnyei, GHQ on July 1 informed that an emergency party meeting of both civil and military officers held on June 27 at GHQ had unanimously elected Maj Gen (Rtd) Ang Mai from Tangshang Region as the chairman of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland.
