Peren, December 20 (MExN): A three day Music Camp cum Talent Night was held at St. Xavier Parish, Jalukie from December 13 to 16, organized by Zeliangrong Catholic Youth Association Nagaland (ZCYAN).
In the introductory session, Azubo N Dominic, President ZCYAN encouraged the delegates of eight churches under ZCYAN to proclaim the word of God through music.
Aloibe Alex, Advisor ZCYAN expressed happiness for the youths to be able to come together to learn music.The music camp was a blend of basic lessons on tonic sol-fa, guitar and piano, divided into nine sessions which culminated with talent night on December 16 with the primary objective of imparting basic music knowledge to church youths. The resource persons included Kesiahing Samuel, Heguilung Abraham and Crispin Ruangmei, informed a press release from President, Azubo N Dominic, ZCYAN.
Speaking at the event, Special Guest Dannis Sema, Administrative Officer, LIC Government of India, LIC Dimapur said, “Everybody is gifted with talent whether he/she maybe from an urban area or a rural area,” and talked of the importance of religious organizations bringing change in the society.
Special Conferrer of the event, Rev Fr G Lawrence Khing, Director NCYM encouraged the youths to live life that reflects the values of Christ. He said that today, most young people who live in cities tend to forget the ways and lifestyles of their parents and the local people.
The night was marked by choral performance by NCYM choir, various CYA units, choreography, duets, solos, dance, mimes, etc. Melody Kamei and Hungdagongle Rosinta were the comperes for the programme. Earlier during the programme, Dr Fr Francis Cheerangal, Principal, St Xavier College invoked God’s blessing upon the gathering and Pauyirang Gerald Sephe pronounced vote of thanks.
